Hello This is Liwei!
A designer currently studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Originally from Chongqing, China, I moved to Santa Cruz, California during high school, and eventually found my way to New York to pursue my passion for design.
My work often bridges culture and modern visual language, reinterpreting tradition through a fresh and contemporary lens. From rebranding a Chinese bakery using retro commercial colors, to creating a personal year-wrapped report with expressive hashtag-style illustrations, I explore storytelling through identity, typography, and systems. I enjoy blending bold aesthetics with thoughtful concepts—whether it's designing a nostalgic yet futuristic typeface inspired by micro SD cards, or visualizing wellness with Chinese watercolor in a ginseng water brand.
Design, for me, is not only a form of visual expression, but also a way to connect ideas, history, and emotion across time and place.
Aside from school I'm also keen to explore anime fan animations that rely on the animation software MikuMikuDance and its community resources, click here to watch them!
